When it comes to national parks in the U.S., you’ve probably heard of all the “big ones” like the Grand Canyon and Yosemite and up until a couple weeks ago I had never heard of or seen any pictures of White Sands and therefore never had any desire to visit.
For any lover of nature and the outdoors it is definitely a must visit, a true beauty of the South West, known for its dramatic landscape of rare white gypsum sand dunes. Located in the northern Chihuahuan Desert in the U.S. state of New Mexico about 5 hours east of Phoenix, AZ or 30 minutes North of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Entry into the National Park is $5 per person. There are trails to backpack or if you like enjoy a picnic on the sand and sled down the hills.
Take your shoes off and enjoy the amazing sand between your toes!
